The cottage
Most of what stood in this neighborhood when the sand was still the only attraction has been torn down and replaced with something taller. This one survived.
The Gail is named for the woman who owned her first. She has been remodeled carefully enough to keep what made her worth keeping — the proportions, the porches, the light — and updated far enough that you are not camping. Nine hundred square feet, three bedrooms, two full baths, a real kitchen, a washer and dryer, and porches on both ends.
She sits in a quiet street of other original cottages, less than a quarter mile from the water. No elevator, no parking deck, no resort fee. Room for a trailer if you tow one.
The beach
Less than a quarter mile. About five minutes at an unhurried pace, which is the only pace available here.
That distance is the whole point. It is short enough to walk back for lunch, short enough to come home when somebody forgets a towel, and short enough that nobody has to move a car. The outdoor shower is waiting when you get back, so the sand stays in the yard.
Room by room
Three bedrooms, four beds, five guests. The maximum is firm — it is what keeps the cottage comfortable and the neighbors friendly.

Full stove and oven, new side-by-side fridge with icemaker and filtered water, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig, French press and kettle. No dishwasher except the human kind.
A table that genuinely seats six, plus a desk with a proper chair if somebody has to work.
Full bath with a walk-in shower. Mango-coconut three-in-one wash on the wall, so nobody has to pack a bottle.

Outside
Fully fenced, two gates, and laid out so the evening has somewhere to go.
There is a fire pit with a large picnic table beside it, a gas grill, and a back deck with room to spread out. The outdoor shower is full-height with real privacy walls, which matters more than it sounds like it should after a day on the sand.
Dogs
A lot of listings say pet friendly and mean tolerated. This one has two gates and a fenced yard because Bev built it for dogs on purpose.
One dog up to twenty-five pounds is $100. A second dog is $50 with approval. Bev puts out sheets to cover the furniture so your dog can get comfortable without anyone worrying, and the local rules for dogs on the beach are on a magnet on the fridge.

Bev is a retired high school English teacher and the grandmother of four boys and three girls. She reads, cooks seafood, swims, sings, and plays cards. Guests mention her in almost every review, usually before they mention the house.

Bev’s home was exactly what we were looking for. We took a family vacation with our 3 year old and our dog and it was perfect for the four of us. The house was clean, organized, and overall just very cozy. We absolutely loved staying here and we loved Bev as a host.
Four of us plus our family dog stayed here 6 days. Beach is very close and easy to get to by walking. The fenced in back yard was great for our dog. Bev provided sheets to cover furniture so our dog could be comfortable. Kitchen had all the things we needed. No complaints.
I felt right at home at this quaint cottage by the sea. On top of the premier location, Bev is a phenomenal host. I have done a lot of traveling and this is by far, the best Air BnB experience I have had. Perfect for a quiet getaway to the beach.
The location is perfect for beach days. Close enough to easily walk back to the house for lunch or when you forget something. The space was great for our 5 guests, lots of room to spread out. The back deck and outdoor shower are very convenient for cleaning off after a beach day. We will definitely be back next summer.
Everything was smooth from check-in to check-out, and Bev was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and a truly wonderful host. Since this was our first time visiting South Carolina, she made our experience even more special. The house was cozy, comfortable, and just a short walk from the beach.
Bev is such a wonderful host. You could not ask for a nicer person. She went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and amazing. We plan to stay at her place the next time we are in Myrtle Beach. It was beautiful inside and out, extremely clean, and a great location.
Before you book
Check in from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Bev hands over the door code or key in person. Checkout is by 10:00 AM.
Maximum occupancy is five people. It is the one rule with no flexibility in it.
One dog up to 25 lb for $100. A second dog is $50 with approval. Other pets case by case.
Vaping and smoking outside only, by the fire pit. No candles or incense indoors.
It stays at 70 degrees or above, and doors and windows stay closed May through September. Below 70 the system ices up.
Starter supplies: toilet paper, laundry pods, paper towels, dish soap, trash bags, salt and pepper, spices, olive oil spray, Keurig pods, tea and sugar. Mango-coconut three-in-one wash in both baths.
Guests only unless Bev approves it in advance.

$1,700 a month, everything included — power, water and weekly garbage collection.
