The cottage
Most of what stood in this neighborhood when the sand was still the only attraction has been torn down and replaced with something taller. This one survived.
The Gail is named for the woman who owned her first. She has been remodeled carefully enough to keep what made her worth keeping — the proportions, the porches, the light — and updated far enough that you are not camping. Nine hundred square feet, three bedrooms, two full baths, a real kitchen, a washer and dryer, and porches on both ends.
She sits on a quiet street of other original cottages, less than a quarter mile from the water. No elevator, no parking deck, no resort fee. Room for a trailer if you tow one.
The beach
Less than a quarter mile. About five minutes at an unhurried pace, which is the only pace available here.
That distance is the whole point. It is short enough to walk back for lunch, short enough to come home when somebody forgets a towel, and short enough that nobody has to move a car. The outdoor shower is waiting when you get back, so the sand stays in the yard.
Room by room
Three bedrooms, four beds, five guests. The maximum is firm — it is what keeps the cottage comfortable and the neighbors friendly.

Full stove and oven, new side-by-side fridge with icemaker and filtered water, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig, French press and kettle. No dishwasher except the human kind.
A table that genuinely seats six, plus a desk with a proper chair if somebody has to work.
Full bath with a walk-in shower. Mango-coconut three-in-one wash on the wall, so nobody has to pack a bottle.

Outside
Fully fenced, two gates, and laid out so the evening has somewhere to go.
There is a fire pit with a large picnic table beside it, a gas grill, and a back deck with room to spread out. The outdoor shower is full-height with real privacy walls, which matters more than it sounds like it should after a day on the sand.
Dogs
A lot of listings say pet friendly and mean tolerated. This one has two gates and a fenced yard because Bev built it for dogs on purpose.
A dog under 50 lb is $100, and a dog over 50 lb is $150. A second dog is $50 with approval. Bev puts out sheets to cover the furniture so your dog can get comfortable without anyone worrying, and the local rules for dogs on the beach are on a magnet on the fridge.
Getting around
It is Bev's own cart, kept at the house. Four seats, gas rather than electric so there is nothing to charge overnight, and it already carries the North Myrtle Beach parking stickers — which is the part that actually saves you money and circling.
Tick the cart when you pick your dates above and the estimator adds it to your total. Five days or more is charged at the weekly rate automatically, never more.
Whoever drives must be at least eighteen, hold a valid driver's license, and sign a short waiver before the keys change hands — Bev sends it over once your dates are set. Lights, turn signals and horn all work, but South Carolina still allows carts only between sunrise and sunset, only on secondary roads posted at 35 mph or less, and only within four miles of the house. The tank is full when you get it; top it off before you go.
On the morning you leave, lock the cart and leave the keys inside on the kitchen window sill. Adding the cart after you have already booked? Bev will quote it and you can settle up on the payment page.
The cart is not refundable once your dates are reserved. That includes days you do not end up using it and days the weather turns — a rained-out afternoon at the beach is still a day the cart was held for you and not rented to anyone else. Please add it only if you are sure you want it.

Bev is a retired high school English teacher and the grandmother of four boys and three girls. She reads, cooks seafood, swims, sings, and plays cards. Guests mention her in almost every review, usually before they mention the house.

Bev’s home was exactly what we were looking for. We took a family vacation with our 3 year old and our dog and it was perfect for the four of us. The house was clean, organized, and overall just very cozy. We absolutely loved staying here and we loved Bev as a host.
Four of us plus our family dog stayed here 6 days. Beach is very close and easy to get to by walking. The fenced in back yard was great for our dog. Bev provided sheets to cover furniture so our dog could be comfortable. Kitchen had all the things we needed. No complaints.
I felt right at home at this quaint cottage by the sea. On top of the premier location, Bev is a phenomenal host. I have done a lot of traveling and this is by far, the best Air BnB experience I have had. Perfect for a quiet getaway to the beach.
The location is perfect for beach days. Close enough to easily walk back to the house for lunch or when you forget something. The space was great for our 5 guests, lots of room to spread out. The back deck and outdoor shower are very convenient for cleaning off after a beach day. We will definitely be back next summer.
Everything was smooth from check-in to check-out, and Bev was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and a truly wonderful host. Since this was our first time visiting South Carolina, she made our experience even more special. The house was cozy, comfortable, and just a short walk from the beach.
Bev is such a wonderful host. You could not ask for a nicer person. She went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and amazing. We plan to stay at her place the next time we are in Myrtle Beach. It was beautiful inside and out, extremely clean, and a great location.

Maximum occupancy is five people. It is the one rule with no flexibility in it.
A dog under 50 lb is $100, over 50 lb is $150, and a cat is $75. A second dog is $50 with approval. Other pets case by case.
Vaping and smoking outside only, by the fire pit. No candles or incense indoors.
It stays at 70 degrees or above, and doors and windows stay closed May through September. Below 70 the system ices up.
Starter supplies: toilet paper, laundry pods, paper towels, dish soap, trash bags, salt and pepper, spices, olive oil spray, Keurig pods, tea and sugar. Mango-coconut three-in-one wash in both baths.

Around the house
The practical list, so you are not searching for it on a phone with one bar. Bev keeps a printed copy on the fridge as well.
The closest emergency room, about a mile from the front door. A standalone ER, not a walk-in clinic — this is where you go for anything serious.
For a stingray sting, a bad sunburn, an ear infection, stitches. Cheaper and usually faster than the ER when it is not an emergency.
The full hospital, about fifteen minutes north, if someone needs admitting or surgery.
Cherry Grove Drug is the independent one and people are loyal to it, but it closes Sundays. Walgreens keeps longer hours.
Not really a grocery store. A Cherry Grove institution since 1948 — groceries downstairs, a hot food counter with fried chicken and chicken bog, and a whole upstairs of beach junk and gifts. Go once even if you do not need anything.

Closer if you are heading south, and open late.
The closest thing to a town center, and the birthplace of the shag — South Carolina’s state dance. Shag clubs, bars, beach shops, and a beach access at the end of the street. This is the one you can reach on the golf cart.
Walk it at sunrise or fish it all day. Rods and bait in the shop at the front, and people spot dolphins and rays off the end most mornings.
Shops and restaurants built out over the water on the Intracoastal, with the Alabama Theatre and a carousel for the kids. A rainy afternoon solves itself here.
A note if you rent the cart: South Carolina keeps golf carts on secondary roads posted at 35 mph or less and within four miles of the house, in daylight. Main Street and the beach accesses are comfortably inside that. Highway 17 is not a secondary road, so Barefoot Landing, Publix and the urgent care are all car trips.
Winter 2026 – 2027
$1,700 a month plus 12% tax — $1,904 in all, with power, water, weekly garbage and cleaning included.
This coming season — December 1, 2026 to April 16, 2027 — and Bev is lining it up now rather than waiting for the new year. Three bedrooms, a fully fenced yard, laundry, and a five minute walk to the beach, with the quiet months of the season to yourself. December can also be booked by the week.
